This piece is where I can make a pot for a topic I feel passion about because my voice matters. I chose to do global warming/the environment because it is an important issue going on in the world that can affect our future, but we can resolve if we start today instead of doing nothing and our world falls apart. The pot was a pinch pot that I made at home. It took a while to build up and smooth out, but I am proud of how it turned out. I then under glazed the globe with a heart next to it, and wrote 'Save Our Earth". I love the way it looks, and how it says something important to me.
Blue Dip
This pot is a dip bowl because we had the freedom to do whatever we want as a dish. I chose dip bowl because I like ketchup, syrup, etc. and wanted a bowl to put it in. I added the swirly look so it could add more texture and fun to it. I really like the blue glaze with the lighter blue specs around because I was not expecting it, and it looks really cool. The dish was hard to smooth out, but in the end, it worked. I am very excited to take the bowl home and use it!
Half and Half
The cup and bowl was assigned as a dinnerware project where we create a bowl, plate, and cup, but I ended up losing my bowl and couldn't find it! I am very happy with the pieces that I created. It was my first time back on the wheel in over a year, and these turned out way better than I thought. It was hard to figure out how to throw, but once i got the hang of it, throwing got easier. I decided to do half white and half another color because last year, a girl in my class did that, and it looked really cool so I got inspired by her. I cannot wait to use these!
Primary Pot
This is a teapot that I made and I used primary colors for it because I like the way the colors go together. It makes the teapot look more fun. It was hard at first, but it looks way better than i thought at the end. The lid looks very smooth, and the pot part is consistent and not bumpy/uneven. This was my first time ever to make a lid for a pot, and to add handles to pottery. I am looking forward to making tea.
Night Sky
In the beginning, I thought i wouldn't be able to get all my pieces done, but I did(one of my vases blew up). There is a mug, plate, and two jars. Overall I am proud of these pieces. the mug is very smooth and thin, and the plate is a good size. The jars were hard to trim and the lids don't fit all the way, but I like the way the jars turned out. I couldn't find the black one day so I used purple, and I like the two colors together. I used darker colors because I wanted it to be different then all my other pots, and I like darker colors better, they pop more.
Teacher Appreciation Gifts
I decided to do pencil holders for my teacher appreciation post. I wanted to do the same ones, but different colors.I decided to do blue and black because those colors go well together, and I did a brownish orange and black because it reminds me of Halloween. I like doing the half and half colors because it is fun to glaze, and it turns out awesome, The only downside is that it can be harder to glaze the whole pot(I had a couple of spots that didn't get glaze on it. I did a slab build, and rolled a slab to form a pencil holder then smoothed it out with a sponge.
